[edit] How To Flash
Read the Firmware FAQ and Broadcom forum build threads before upgrading!
- Use GUI or TFTP flash with a wired connection. Disable wireless to be safe.
- DO NOT 30/30/30 HARD RESET this model as this could brick your router. See the Peacock Announcement Note 1.
[edit] Initial Flash
Download Build 14929 dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54gs.bin
- Reset by keeping the router powered on and holding the reset button until the lights flash (up to 30sec)
- Open 192.168.1.1 in a web browser (if issues are encountered, try another browser)
- User = (Leave Blank)
- Password = admin
- If this does not work, see the above reset info to restore to factory defaults.
- Check the firmware version in the top right corner to be 4.71.4, otherwise flash:
- WRT54GS_4.71.4.001_fw.2.bin (factory firmware was removed by Linksys)
- DO NOT flash this to a WRT54GSv1
- Go to Administration -> Firmware Upgrade, select dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54gs.bin and click Upgrade to flash.
- Wait 5 minutes for the router to reboot
- If no response, unplug the router for 10 seconds then plug it back in
- Navigate to 192.168.1.1 to access the webUI to set a password.
- Once password has been set, you can navigate through the webUI and configure as desired.
[edit] Upgrade Flash
- Any generic.bin /broadcom folder build will work under 7995392 bytes (7808KB)
- See K2.4 Build Features for file type differences. Read build threads first!
- Go to Administration -> Firmware Upgrade to select the file to Upgrade
- Wait 5 minutes for the router to reboot (power cycle if needed) then reset
- Access the GUI to set a password and configure
