hello all,
great forum, been a long time lurker and learned alot of stuff beginning with my WRT54g.
Ive upgraded to the Linksys WRT 1900ACS v1 with DD-WRT v3.0-r30015M kongmv (06/24/16). all is well except that I cannot seem to get this 4 TB USB HD set up properly. I tried E-sata but no luck and it is recognized by the router only via USB.
I formatted the HD using my Mac and Tuxera (NTFS). the HD in question is a Fantom Drives GForce3. I did my due diligence but some of the info i've found is outdated and don't know if its applicable. I also dont have access to a Linux device.
I must admit I'm a newb and dont know much about the different partition formats pros/cons and all I need the HD to do is serve as an extra storage as most of macs/pc laptops are getting full. I dont really need to pull the info from the external HD but it would be nice.
I keep getting an error: The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “FantomHD” can’t be found. Is there something I am missing? Thanks in advance for any tips/advice/pointers.

resize your images so they do not distort the thread so much.
try resizing down to width 800 _________________ multi-tier router stack

At one point I had my NAS formatted as NTFS and it worked, but slowly.
I ended up getting a virus that made it's way to my NAS via scheduled backup so I removed the drive and connected directly to my Windows 10 PC to clean.
Afterwards, the drive would not reconnect.
I reformatted as EXT4 as was able to get the drive to reconnect.
Also, I got a signifigant speed increase with EXT4 over NTFS.
I'm not sure how much of this will translate to MAC as I don't have one. I'm using a Windows 10 Pro Desktop. I can, however, access my NAS with iPad/iPhone via SMB.
I don't have the need for multiple partitions and I don't use JFFS, but here's my setup:

I've tried to use a windows PC also and I get the same error: The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “WORKGROUP” can’t be found.
should I try a different partition type?

Very happy to hear you don’t have to lose anything!
If you ever find yourself in a position where you can safely backup your NAS - I highly recommend reformatting to EXT4.
I don’t have a side-by-side comparison, but your transfers would be much, much faster.
One thing of note is that you would need additional software on your Windows PC if you wanted to connect the drive directly.
EXT4 is not outright compatible with Windows (not sure about MAC).
It's best if you don’t need to move your drive and plan to keep it as a DD-WRT NAS.

I’ve never personally used this method as Samba has been fine for what I need, but if you create & label a partition jffs it will automatically mount that partition at boot.
From what I’ve read some use this as an alternative to the router's internal memory as a place to store custom scripts / commands.
However, I’m not sure if you can rename a partition without reformatting.
Give it a try with Windows Disk Manager or similar.
