Hi hurleyp,
RE: I have Log Management enabled and Log Level set to High. Syslog is no longer showing dropped and rejected connections, but standard log messages such as system notifications and dnsmasq messages still appear. This issue first appeared with version r31570M.
And now under services tab there are two options to enable syslogd and separately klogd for kernel logging (by default both are disabled)(right below SSH and above Telnet settings).
Once klogd is enabled firewall events are logged again.
And even time stamps of klogd events got finally corrected and show current router timezone time and not UTC. Bravo DEVs
I hope this will help.
Sincerely,
P-B _________________ Netgear R7000

Hey, that works! Thanks P-B I guess when all else fails it pays to read the changelog.
Just upgraded to this version from r31575M about 12 hours ago. Some strange issues were observed initally.
1. After the firmware upgrade, it won't boot successfully just like some several previous versions before r31520M. A power-off/on is needed. (Unfortunately I don't have the UART conection to see what happened...)
2. At the first time it booted, a CPU exception happened and the samba service was not detected from the network. Did another device reboot again and the problem is gone.
In my configuration, a custom-made USB2 pen-drive with ext4 partition and a USB3 pen-drive with exFAT are attached. When the system boots, sometimes USB3 device gets /dev/sda, sometimes it gets /dev/sdb.
However the normal USB3 pen-drive does not have a GPT which can describe each partition's UUID. I don't know how to make such USB3-pen-drive's exFAT always mounted to a fixed location. For NAS feature's DLNA / SAMBA sharing path, as a result, it might not found the partition contents with /mnt/sda or /mnt/sdb naming.

Kong, I really appreciate the fact that you do so much to fine tune some things.
I have been running your FW on some of my Buffalo 1750's for a while. But I since December I have had to jump in to the realm of more processor capable routers. So I moved to the ASUS AC5300 with your FIRMWARE.
In any event since day one the only real problem I have seen is the WAN Mac address on all of them is 00:00:00:00:00:01 . The router has been completely functional so this is not a show stopper. In the beginning all of the mac addresses were similar for wireless, lan and wan. But one or two firmwares in the Wireless and Lan macs were fixxed.
Anyhow figured since I just purchased a 3rd 5300 and updated it to dd-wrt, it was time to mention this.
Thanks,
